A string of missed opportunities and errors by government security agencies culminated in what President Obama would declare a “systemic failure.” Is scanning everyone with expensive, high-tech equipment the best use of limited resources? is Quaid-i-Azam Professor at SIPA, Columbia University. He is also a senior advisor at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and BErnard Schwartz Fellow at Asia Society in New York. Abbas has also been a visiting fellow at the Islamic Legal Studies Program at Harvard Law School and a visiting scholar at the Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation. Prior to his academic career, Abbas served as a government official in the administrations of Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and President Pervez Musharraf. However, let me offer my respect and admiration to Dr. Abbas, and former secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Mr. Chertoff for their intelligent and well-reasoned arguments. I say you absolutely won the case. I also extend my respect to Dr. Nomani, whose courage to argue for a motion that profiles her own race is courageous. Finally, with due respect, I ought to say Mr. Baer and Mrs. Burlingame were basically hanging in the conversation without making any sensible arguments. They were lost, and intelligent squared is scarred due to their poor performance.
